Bhopal: A woman in a Madhya Pradesh district was beaten by some members of her family for allegedly eloping with a Dalit youth, the police said on Sunday.
A video showing some men armed with batons, hitting the 21-year-old woman on Sunday went viral on social media prompting the local police to register a case against the accused.
The incident took place in Dhar district on June 25. It came to light on Sunday, when the video showing the incident went viral.
According to the police, her family members brought her back after she allegedly eloped with a Dalit youth and arranged her marriage with a youth from their community which she refused.
