Parsis celebrates Fire Temple turning 175

The temple was built by the philanthropists Seth Viccaji Meherji and Seth Pestonji Meherji

Hyderabad: The Parsi community in the twin cities celebrated the 175th anniversary of the Parsi Fire Temple in Secunderabad in a grand manner on Sunday by gathering at the temple and offering prayers.

The temple was built by the philanthropists Seth Viccaji Meherji and Seth Pestonji Meherji. Every 25 years, such celebrations are hosted at the temple by the descendants of the two founders and the trustees of the temple board. There are only about 1,000 Parsis in the twin cities, and on Sunday, nearly all of them were at the temple.

Shahzad Irani, who visited the temple in the morning, said a group photograph was taken of every visitor to the temple, which was something that is done every 25 years. Celebrations continued throughout the day. In the evening, several prominent members of the community attended the celebrations.
