Luqman Ali to host 10-day vintage car show at Doha
HYDERABAD: Well-known Hyderabadi historian and author Mohammed Luqman Ali Khan is all set to host an exhibition of historically significant heritage cars at the inaugural Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) Qatar. The show is scheduled to take place from October 5 to 14 at the Doha Exhibition & Conference Centre (DECC).
Luqman’s Classics Gallery promises to be a major attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the world of vintage and classic automobiles.
"Among the exceptional vehicles to be displayed is a Popemobile and a Grand Prix winner. It will also feature Qatar's very own automotive treasure, the Rolls-Royce Phantom V. This Rolls-Royce, bearing the chassis number 5LCG25, was originally delivered to the then Emir of Qatar, HH Sheikh Ahmad Bin Ali Al Thani, after it graced the stage at the 1962 Geneva International Motor Show. This vehicle symbolises the deep-rooted connection between Qatar and the Geneva Motor Show, showcasing the automotive connoisseurship of Qataris," Khan told Deccan Chronicle.
Khan, curatorial director of the 'Classics Gallery' and the author of the official event book, added that the display of rare vehicles from world-renowned car collections at the inaugural Geneva International Motor Show Qatar marks a milestone for the event, which has been a global showcase for automotive innovations and technology since 1905.
"Expanding its legacy beyond Geneva for the first time, GIMS has chosen to partner exclusively with Qatar, a dynamic and progressive country known for its ideal geographic location and its ability to organise world-class events,” Khan said. “The exhibition is a unique opportunity for enthusiasts to witness some of the most prestigious automobiles from around the globe.”
