Kaleshwaram project: Water leaks from two gates of Annaram barrage

The officials also released around 2,357 cuses of water downstream by lifting one gate

Warangal: Even before one could forget the sinking of pillars and cracks that appeared in several blocks of the Medigadda (Laxmi) barrage constructed under the prestigious Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), water started oozing out due to leakage of two gates at Annaram (Saraswathi) barrage in Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Wednesday.

Even after the gates were closed, the officials of the irrigation department, noticed some water was flowing out through gate numbers 28 and 38 following which they took some measures to prevent the flow of water by placing sandbags which were shifted there in small boats.

The officials also released around 2,357 cuses of water downstream by lifting one gate.

The state government constructed the Annaram barrage under the KLIS project. The total water storage capacity of the barrage is 10.87 tmcs. At present, the water level in the barrage was 5.71 tmc.
