Hyderabad: A mysterious explosion in the underground drainage, triggered panic among the residents of Madhusudan Nagar under Cherlapally PS of Rachakonda commissionerate on Tuesday night.
Police suspect unknown chemicals let into the drain channel could have triggered the explosion.
Locals said that the explosion resulted in cracks on the roads and manhole covers were also broken due to the impact of the explosion.
Further, pungent odour spread in the area after the explosion, causing an irritating effect on the residents.
In another incident, a fire broke out in a commercial complex at Uppal. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and started dousing the blaze.
Prima facie no casualties were reported, fire officials said.
