End to Singareni CMD Sridhar's Extended Tenure
Adilabad: The extended tenure of the Singareni Collieries (SCCL) chairman and CMD, N Sridhar, has ended. He would report to the General Administration Department of the state government on Tuesday. Sridhar served for a long time as CMD of the SCCL.
The state government has issued orders giving additional charge of CMD to SCCL fiancé director N Balaram.
According to sources, Sridhar joined as CMD for the SCCL on Jan 1, 2015. He was to complete his tenure by Dec 31, 2016.
The BRS government extended his tenure repeatedly -- for two years first, and twice for one year each. He remained in the same post for nine years, a record of sorts in SCCL.
The state government continued Sridhar as CMD despite the central government’s objection to his continuation. Sridhar continued in the post with the help of an ordinary resolution passed by the state government. It is said that rules do not allow any CMD to continue in the post for more than five years.
Allegations were that during Sridhar’s term as CMD, district mineral foundation funds of SCCL were diverted to other areas instead of spending them on the development and welfare of the people of the Singareni coal belt areas. It is also noted that, during his tenure, political involvement increased in the SCCL.
