Vijayawada: A miracle is about to unfold in the sky of Vijayawada from February 1st to February 6th with the appearance of a rare Green Comet after thousands of years.
Numbered C/2022 E3 (ZTF), the Green Comet will be visible in the Southern Hemisphere in clear skies after nearly 50,000 years. It had earlier appeared over Earth during the Ice Age.
According to NASA, on February 1, the Green Comet will come within 26 million miles (42 million kilometres) of the Earth. It will not return for millions of years.
Astronomers first spotted the comet in March last year with the Wide Field Survey Camera at the Zwicky Transient Facility. It was orbiting Jupiter at the time.
