Govt grants Rs 5 lakh ex gratia to kin of drain death victim
Hyderabad: Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Monday, on behalf of the state government, handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to family members of 12-year-old P. Monika, who died after falling into a drain through a hole on a road in Dan Bazaar of Kalasiguda on April 29.
Meeting the family members at their residence, Srinivas Yadav expressed sorrow about the incident and consoled the girl’s parents, P. Srikanth and P. Renuka.
Sharing his grief, the minister said that no measure can alleviate the parents’ pain or compensate for their child’s death. He assured to support the poverty-riddled family in all possible ways.
Deputy Mayor Mothe Sreelatha Reddy, former corporator Atthili Aruna Goud, GHMC zonal commissioner Srinivas Reddy, and local leaders Anjaneyulu, Vijay, Bhaskar and Jagat Rao accompanied the minister.
Meanwhile, minister K.T. Rama Rao, in a statement, said that many developmental works were being undertaken in the city, costing crores of rupees, as part of a special initiative to solve the problems of the people.
Rama Rao said that a comprehensive canal development programme was being undertaken to permanently end flooding and waterlogging. He said that the works are already providing relief to people in many areas.
