No Seetha, no woman in Seetharama Raju’s life
KAKINADA: The revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Seetharama Raju was not involved with any woman, or a ‘Seetha’ in his life unlike what was depicted in the Alluri Seetharama Raju film produced by the Telugu actor Krishna.
According to the kith and kin of Alluri Seetharama Raju, there was no such woman in his life. His name was Srirama Raju and they say they do not know how the “Seetha'' name was added to his life story.
Alluri Seetharama Raju’s sister late Seethamma’s son Danthuluri Venkatrama Raju had studied Seetharama Raju’s history by visiting the agency areas and meeting his close aides. He also visited the archaeological department and enquired with officials about the Seetharama Raju name.
“I accompanied my father Venkatrama Raju during the study of Seetharama Raju. But, we could not find any such evidence. We don’t know how Alluri Srirama Raju has come to be known as Seetharama Raju,’’ said Dr Danthuluri Srirama Raju, the late Venkatrama Raju’s son, who retired from the Agriculture research department and settled down in Hyderabad.
He or his brother would not attend the Prime Minister’s events this time due to their ill-health. He said his father late Venkatrama Raju, who was an expert in Telugu, Sanskrit and English, wrote a book, Alluri Seetharama Raju Jeevitha Charitra, in Telugu and concluded that though the real name was Alluri Srirama Raju, the name Alluri Seetharama Raju is in vogue in public life.
Seetharama Raju’s brother Satyanarayana’s grandson Alluri Srirama Raju (Tirupathi Raju’s son) said, “Though our grandfather’s name was Alluri Srirama Raju, a British official registered his name in one of their records as “Seetharama Raju’’.
Another version is that Alluri Seetharama Raju had a great affection for his sister Seethamma. So, the tribals in the Maynam area called him Seetharama Raju.
