Kurnool: The government has taken significant steps to construct a national highway from Bethamcherla to Dhone at a cost of over Rs 600 crore, finance minister Buggana Rajendranath announced on Saturday. The minister participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for a railway under bridge, to be built at a cost of Rs 12 crore, in Dhone. He also inaugurated the Rs 5.5 crore municipal building in Kurnool.

In order to ensure convenience for the public, efforts are being made to streamline the functioning of municipal offices and provide a hassle-free system, he said.

The historical club, which was established in 1912 under the leadership of Rao Bahadur Sesha Reddy’s father, has been revived and the Buggana Sesha Reddy Indoor Stadium has been constructed in its vicinity, the minister said.

The construction of a bridge at Kambalapadu Circle in Dhone is being taken up at a cost of Rs 60 crore, and the government also plans to provide drinking water to every household in the constituency within three months after implementing a Rs 350 crore water grid project, he added.

“Several initiatives have been taken to enhance educational and employment opportunities for the youth, including the establishment of SC and BC residential schools, ITI, polytechnic colleges and the Kia Excellence Knowledge Centre. The government has also made significant investments to improve the infrastructure in Dhone. This includes the setting up of an ITDR project, a 100-bed hospital, a vegetable market, a Peapully integrated market, indoor stadiums, parks and tourist centres,” Rajendranath said.

An initiative to fill up 28 tanks across Dhone and provide water to farmers for irrigation has also been completed at a cost of Rs 300 crore, he said.

The construction of buildings for 280 families by TIDCO has been finalized and house pattas have been distributed to 3,300 underprivileged individuals across Dhone as part of the Jagananna housing scheme.

Plans are underway to establish a sub-court at a cost of Rs 23 crore and to construct Balija Community Bhavan, Vaddera Bhavan and minority buildings at a cost of Rs10 crore.

Rajendranath also criticised the Opposition Telugu Desam for allegedly manipulating the value of their lands and ventures. The vegetable market, which lacked amenities, has been upgraded to meet the required standards.

The TD government had proposed to construct the municipal building at a distance of three km from the town, causing inconvenience to the public, the minister said, and highlighted the initiatives taken by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government to address existing issues and resolve them.
