Traffic cops propose staggered timings for schools in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: In an attempt to make reduce traffic pressure, the Hyderabad traffic police has suggested that schools stagger their closing times. The experiment to stagger logout timings in the IT zone during the rains had reportedly yielded results.
G. Sudheer Babu, additional police commissioner, traffic, at a meeting with managements said that schools located in the same localities must stagger their timings and asked them to come up with proposals towards this end before their next meeting.
Sudheer Babu requested managements to deploy traffic volunteers and security guards to regulate school-related traffic and organise parking of vehicles.
He advised the managements to inform parents about the traffic congestion issues. The traffic police will train volunteers and provide safety equipment, he said.
Police also directed the managements to ensure their vehicles carrying school children proper fitness and maintenance.
