HC directs CBI to file counter after Kallam accuses agency of twisting facts

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday directed the CBI to file its contention in the petition filed by former IAS officer Ajeya Kallam, adviser to AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, in which he complained that the agency had twisted his statements regarding the incidents that transpired at the CM’s house on the day of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy was found murdered.

Justice K. Lakshman directed the CBI to file the case by September 15 and inform its stand.

Filing an additional chargesheet during its inquiry into the murder of Vivekananda Reddy, the CBI had submitted that Kallam, member of manifesto committee of YSRC in 2019, had given a statement under Section 161 CrPC that around 5.30 am on the day, Jagan Mohan Reddy was called by his spouse from the office room. He returned a little while later to share the news of his uncle’s death.

Kallam disputed the agency’s contention. He stated that he had only said that he was present in a meeting of the YSRC manifesto committee when Jagan Mohan Reddy had been informed about his uncle’s death. He had never said Jagan Mohan Reddy was called by his spouse. Kallam requested the court to set aside the statement furnished by the CBI.
