Amit Shah greets Telugus on AP Formation Day

Vijayawada: Union Home Minister Amit Shah wished the people of Andhra Pradesh well on the state formation day on Tuesday in Telugu language.

Taking to Twitter, Shah said in words that meant, “My heartiest greeting to the people of Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of statehood day. Andhra Pradesh is known for its wonderful culture and great-hearted people. I pray that Andhra Pradesh develop further in the coming period.”

Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid rich tributes to Potti Sriramulu on the formation day. After garlanding the statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu, he unfurled the national flag and took the police salute.

Taking to Twitter, he this was “a festival of memorising our culture and fame, struggles and success stories of our ancestors and the sacrifices of the great people who were born on this soil.”

Legislative council deputy chairperson Zakia Khanam, home minister Taneti Vanita, tourism minister RK Roja, health minister Vidadala Rajani, housing minister Jogi Ramesh, chief secretary Sameer Sharma, DGP Rajendranath Reddy, state Mahila Commission chairperson Vasireddy Padma, Telugu and Sanskrit Academy chairperson Lakshmi Parvati, adviser to government (public affairs) Ramakrishna Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy and top officials participated in the programme.

Telugu Desam leaders celebrated the day and paid floral tributes to Potti Sriramulu at an event held at the TD central office. Notably, the TD government led by Nara Chandrababu Naidu did not celebrate the AP Formation Day during their five years of tenure. Naidu used to perform Navanirmana Deeksha, shunning the formation day. On Tuesday, TD leaders led by MLC Ashok Babu participated in the formation day event.
