Complaint against Siddaramaiah in Lokayukta

BENGALURU: A complaint against Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been filed with the Karnataka Lokayukta Police on Wednesday in Bengaluru by Bharatiya Janata Party leader N.R. Ramesh who accused Siddaramaiah of taking money of Rs 1.3 crore from his close friend L. Vivekananada to appoint him as Steward and member of Managing Committee of prestigious Bangalore Turf Club in 2015. Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister from 2013 to 2018.

Stating he has submitted documents to support his accusations to the Lokayukta, Ramesh said he has filed a complaint against Siddaramaiah accusing him of misuse of power, fraud and corruption.

“It is clear that Siddaramaiah took Rs 1.3 crore as loan through a cheque from his friend Vivekananda and later made him Steward and member of Managing Committee of Bangalore Turf Club in 2015,” said Ramesh.

Though, Siddaramaiah stated that he took Rs 1.3 crore from his friend L.Vivekananda as loan and that he has mentioned it in his election affidavit, Ramesh said Siddaramaiah has mentioned in his election affidavit the loan he has borrowed but Siddamaraiah has not returned the loan he has borrowed from his friend and made the appointment in return of the loan amount which amounts to “kickback.” The act of Siddaramaiah is in violation of provisions of Income Tax Act.

Besides, a complaint has also been lodged with the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over loan borrowing of Siddaramaiah and in turn appointment of his friend as Steward and member of Managing Committee of Bangalore Turf Club. Ramesh also wanted the CM to hand over the case to CBI or CID.
