Major mishap averted at Srisailam after boiler blast
Ananthapur: A major mishap was averted at the Annapurna Bhavan cooking facility in the temple town of Srisailam after a boiler blasted. The debris destroyed the roof of the boilers shed on Tuesday.
No staff was present and the debris fell opposite to the site of the adjacent gas cylinders godown. This averted a major mishap.
The Srisailam Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramarambika temples maintain Annapurna Bhavan, where necessary prasadam and food (alpaharam) are prepared in its kitchen section. When the boilers were switched on for the food preparation, one of them blasted with a huge sound. The roof of the shed got damaged.
A gas godown was present adjacent to the kitchen for storage of materials for preparation of alpaharam and other food items for the visiting devotees. The debris of the boiler fell on the opposite side of the gas godown. There would have been massive damage if the gas cylinders had caught fire and blasted.
Sources said continuous usage of the boilers for preparation of alpaharam for devotees caused stress to them. There were huge crowds during the holy Karthika Masam. Heavy radiation resulted in the blast. The debris of the boiler destroyed the roof at 10ft height.
