HC Dismisses PIL Against Land Allocation to AP Secretariat Employees Society

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL filed in 2010 challenging the allotment of prime land admeasuring 155 acres to the AP Secretariat Employees Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society.

A retired employee O.M. Debra filed the PIL seeking the High Court to set aside the GOs issued by the government to the society allocating 55 acres at Neknampur village of Rajendranagar mandal and 100 acres at Jawahar Nagar village in Shamirpet mandal. The petitioner’s grievance was that the said places were most sought after for housing and offices and the market prices of the land were in crores per acre. But, the government had allotted the said lands to the society at a throwaway price of rupees six lakh per acre.

Senior counsel Gandra Mohan Rao, represented the petitioner, informed the court that there were several discrepancies in the land allotment. However, the court dismissed the PIL.
