Apologise for unruly behaviour or be debarred, HC warns advocate
HYDERABAD: The division bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji heard a suo motu contempt case against advocate B. Balamukund Rao here on Friday. He has been charged for acting in an unruly manner while arguing his case before the single judge of the High Court Justice P. Madhavi Devi and screaming at other advocates in the court hall and sending a written notice to the judge on why action shall not be initiated against her.
The division bench, on a previous occasion, sought Balamukund Rao’s version in the contempt case. On Friday, when the matter was being taken up by the court, the advocate was not apologetic for his behaviour. In fact, he kept arguing with the bench justifying his behavior. When advocate general B.S. Prasad was answering queries raised by the bench, Rao interrupted and asked him to keep quiet.
The court warned of criminal contempt against him and asked him to go home and think how his actions, having a standing of over 40 years, would impact young advocates. The court directed him to tender an unconditional apology failing which he would be barred from practicing.
