Visakhapatnam: Revenue generating projects get priority
Visakhapatnam: Apart from completing the master plan works, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (Vuda) is going to concentrate on the revenue generating projects.
In a recent meeting, the Vuda has decided to give priority to the construction works of amusement parks and commercial complexes, Vuda vice-chairman P. Basanth Kumar said on Monday.
He told this after announcing the proposed annual budget for 2018-19. The total expenditure and receipts were projected at Rs 965.05 crore and Rs 968.37 crore respectively for this fiscal, while the same stood at Rs 724.44 crore and Rs 777.43 crore in the last financial year.
A whopping Rs 563.76 crore is proposed to be reimbursed from the government and another Rs 35.89 crore from the line departments.
It has planned to improve fishing harbour with an expenditure of Rs 40 crore from the funds of fisheries department and renovate Kailasagiri with '36 crore under AP Disaster Recovery Project.
The Vuda has allocated Rs 40 crore during this financial year for the construction of flyover at NAD Junction and Rs 33 crore for the master plan roads.
Mudasarlova Park will be developed as international tourist destination with an initial amount of Rs 15 crore in this fiscal.
The urban body has allocated Rs 12 crore for Vizianagaram district to take up civil and greenery works, Rs 10 crore for Srikakulam and another '5 crore for East Godavari district.
It has also proposed the construction of an IT Park near Harita Housing at Madhurawada with an initial amount of Rs 10 crore as a priority project.
Further, it has allocated Rs 10 crore for multi-level car parking at the open space, opposite Vuda building to address the parking problems in that area.
Another Rs 10 crore each was allocated for the construction of modern jogging track for 30 km, from Kailasagiri to Bheemili, and underground parking at Beach Road.
Mr Basanth said they have fixed the rent for Gurajada Kalakshetram at '2 lakh a day for marriages and private parties, Rs 50,000 for religious activities and private school events, and Rs 10,000 for government school events and Vuda related programmes. The rent for Vuda Children’s Arena remains to be Rs 30,000.
He further informed that Vuda Central Park entry ticket price has been reduced from Rs 60 per person in evening to '30 for adult and '15 for a child, at any time in the day.
