Anantapur: Local police app helps in recovery of 6,000 lost phones

ANANTAPUR: The Anantapur Police claims to have set a record by recovering more than 6,000 mobile phones through Chat Bot mobile recovery app in recent months. The collective value of these lost-and-traced phones could be of ₹9.75cr, the police said.

So far, phones of people from 15 states and 18 districts AP who had lost their phones were recovered by the police by using this app and these were returned to those who lost them. Those who were unable to come to the SP office got these back from the police via courier service.

This was started in June last year by way of an experiment by SP Fakeerappa Kaginelli in the name of Chat Bot app following a series of complaints over missing mobile phones. The first experiment of its kind was hugely successful, the SP said.

Now other AP districts and states too have introduced similar services to help those who lost their mobile phones in public places.

The Chat Bot that started here went viral across several states. People from 15 states benefited from this. Many people who lost their phones in other states too contacted the Anantapur police and got back their phones,” Fakkeerappa said.

The service was provided without registering any case. On Sunday, the SP handed over 382 mobile phones during a programme held at the district police office auditorium.

DGP Ravindranath Reddy appreciated the work of the Anantapur police’s technical team for their excellent service. So far, 221 mobiles from Karnataka, 130 from Telangana, 39 from Kerala, 20 from TN, 8 from Delhi, 5 from Bihar and 5 from MP state were recovered thus.
