VIJAYAWADA: Deputy chief minister and endowments minister Kottu Satyanarayana said on Wednesday that the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam would conduct an ‘Ashtottara Sathakundatmka Chandi, Rudra, Rajasyamala, Sudarshana Sahitha Sri Lakshmi Maya Yagnam’.
This, he said, is for the welfare and development of AP and “to get support from nature to help the state stand in the first place.”
Citing the rain for the past three days, he said that God Varuna has purified the Yagnasala by pouring rain and this was a good omen.
Deputy CM Kottu Satyanarayana inspected the arrangements for the Yagnam at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada on Tuesday.
Satyanarayana said, “For the welfare of people and for the state’s development, the Yagnam would be conducted from May 12 to 17.”
As per the rituals, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would start the Yagnam on May 12 and it would be concluded by the CM on May 17. “This would help strengthen the welfare schemes in the state,” he added.
Satyanarayana said revenue, municipal, home and other department officials would coordinate with each other and ensure the success of the Yagam.
