TS Has Unique Model of Governance: KT Rama Rao

HYDERABAD: Telangana stands a top performing state in the country with a per capita income of Rs 3.17 lakh as compared to the national average of Rs 1.26 lakh. Its GSDP also touched Rs 13.2 lakh crore in 2023 from Rs 5.5 lakh crore in 2014, said industries and IT minister KT Rama Rao.

Presenting The FTCCI Excellence Awards on Monday, he said the State follows a unique model that focuses on development of all sectors. “Former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had a pro-corporate, pro-urban, pro-development image. Another chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had a pro-farmers, pro-rural, pro-welfare image. Telangana’s CM has an image that is both pro-urban and pro-rural, pro-welfare and pro-development, pro-corporate and pro-farmers,” said Rama Rao highlighting the progress happening in the State.

He urged the industries to think on scale to compete with the world. He also asked them to groom the next generation. He stressed the need for manufacturing in India to reduce the import bill. The development happening at the current pace is due to the demographic dividend but a special effort is needed to leapfrog to a new level.

The works of Pharma City, the largest pharma manufacturing cluster in the world, are in the last leg and will be launched shortly, Rama Rao said, adding that 50% of the global requirement of vaccines will be produced in Hyderabad in a year.

Responding to the request made by FTCCI president Anil Agarwal about OTS (One Time Settlement) of electricity bills, he assured said he will do the needful.
