BC quota: Krishnaiah plans stir

BC National Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah welcomed the one nation-one election formula

Hyderabad: BC National Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah on Saturday called for 'Chalo Delhi' to stage a protest on September 19 to press the demand for per cent reservations for the Backward Classes communities and providing a sub-quota in the women's reservations Bill during the special Parliament session to be held from September 18 to September 22.

The decision was taken at core committee meeting of the association here. Speaking on the occasion, Krishnaiah welcomed the one nation-one election formula.

"The BCs from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha states will participate in the Chalo Delhi protest programme and they will stage a protest in Delhi to bring pressure on NDA-led BJP government for BCs reservations. The women's reservation Bill was passed in Rajya Sabha but all political parties must take measures to introduce the Bill in special Parliament session and provide sub-quotas for BCs, SCs, and STs women," Krishnaiah demanded.

Passing a resolution with 14 points, Krishnaiah demanded that all political parties offer 50 per cent seats for BC community candidates to contest in the ensuing elections.
