Visakhapatnam: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising Adivasi unions and federations has demanded cancellation of ST certificates given to various non-tribals in ASR district and other places.
In a statement issued by JAC convener Ramarao Dora from Paderu on Sunday said the activists would conduct grama sabhas in various mandals and demand the cancellation of certificates issued by revenue officials.
Citing an example, Dora said the officials issued ST certificates to some belonging to Chachedi village of Vanukupalli panchayat in Paderu mandal.
Dora said the grama sabha would demand cancellation of ST certificates given to Majji Krishna Rao, Majji Eswara Rao and Majji Meghamala belonging to the Chachedi caste and are given certificates as Konda Dora.
Dora said these persons belonging to scheduled castes migrated from plain areas to the agency areas and obtained ST certificates violating the law. At a panchayat-level meeting held on Sunday Dora demanded action against the revenue officials who did this favour to the migrated communities.
Dora said the Tamarapalli VRO and revenue inspector also issued an endorsement to these persons that they owned land for the last 80 years.
