Jagan, family pays tributes to YSR
ANANTAPUR: The 14th death anniversary of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was observed at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya, Kadapa district, on Saturday. Chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with his mother Y.S. Vijayalakshmi and wife Y.S. Bharathi and other family members offered prayers at YSR’s samadhi.
Traditional prayers marked the solemn event.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Rajasekhar Reddy was a visionary leader who was revered for his welfare agenda.
"You are a leader who will live long in the hearts of people even if you are not physically with us. The people's love for you has strengthened me over the years and stood like a rock. It is your aspirations that guide me in achieving the goals of all-round development (sic)," Jagan wrote on Twitter.
Minister Adimulapu Suresh, MLA Ravindranath Reddy and several other leaders were present on the occasion.
YSR’s achievements and concern for the people were recalled by YSRC and Congress parties in several parts of the state.
Madakasira municipal councillor Subhadra Nagendra urged the state government to propose Rajasekhar Reddy’s name for the Bharat Ratna award because of his immense efforts in elevating irrigation. He brought Krishna water from hundreds of kilometres distance through lift irrigation and farmers from the drought hit-Rayalaseema are relishing this prospect.
