BJP, BRS targeting Congress fearing defeat: Ponnam

Karimnagar: Former MP and senior Congress leader Ponnam Prabhakar condemned Modi and KTR's comments against the Congress, saying that despite the fact that the venues are different, both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao have targeted the Congress, fearing defeat in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Speaking to the media in Husnabad on Monday, the Congress leader said people are laughing at BJP leaders for declaring the Turmeric Board and the formation of Tribal University after nine years of BJP rule at the centre. “All these years, the leaders of the BJP and the BRS have played plays by blaming one other for the awarding of land for the university,” he said.

Ponnam stated, “The BJP must explain to Telangana people what it done to them during its nine years in power. The state's BJP leaders must undergo DNA testing to determine whether they are Telangana citizens or not after faithfully supporting their party's leadership for years.”

During its reign from 2004 to 2014, and until the formation of a separate Telangana State, the Congress kept all of its promises to the people, including fee reimbursement, farm debt waivers, the execution of the Aarogyasri programme, and the supply of free power to the farming sector, the Congress leader said.

“The BRS government, on the other hand, failed not keep its election promises of providing double-bedroom houses, three acres of land to Dalit families, and a job for each household. Both the BJP and the BRS are staging dramas in which they criticise each other and attempt to mislead the public,” he said.
