Harish Flays BJP for \'Trying to Hijack Credit\' for Train Service from Siddipet

Hyderabad: Finance minister T Harish Rao criticised the BJP for attempting to take credit for the railway line from Siddipet to Secunderabad, saying “Had it not been for KCR, this would not have happened.”

Speaking in Siddipet after flagging the train service following Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launching the train service, Harish Rao said, “It was KCR who mooted the proposal way back in 2006 but none of the governments that came since then, ever took any step. It was left for the Telangana government under KCR to acquire 2,508 acres at a cost of Rs 310 crore with the state providing Rs 330 crore as its share for the project.”

Harish Rao said despite the state’s contribution, the flag off event did not even have a picture of the Chief Minister, and accused the BJP of trying to hijack the credit for the railway line. “Irrespective of what they say, this is a victory for the people of Telangana,” he said.

Earlier, Harish Rao, addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the Gajwel Outer Ring Road, and a mother and child centre there, announced that the Chief Minister has sanctioned implementation of Gruhalakshmi scheme for 10,000 beneficiaries in Gajwel.

“Today, in one day, we inaugurated projects worth Rs 530 crore in Gajwel including the ORR, the mother and child centre, and underground drainage system. The entire credit for this goes to the Chief Minister who made Gajwel into a model constituency,” he said.

Harish Rao also criticised the Congress in Telangana, calling its Pradesh Congress Committee as ‘payment collection centre’, adding that the Congress party is selling its tickets.
