Dindigul: A mysterious black object which fell from the sky onto a farm created a flutter among villagers in Dindigul district on Wednesday.
Around 11 am, farmer Rangaswamy from Mothupatti village, who was plucking tomatoes from plants in his farm, found a black object fast approaching from the sky towards land. “Within a few seconds, the object fell in the adjacent farm causing a loud noise,” Rangaswamy said.
Rangaswamy also saw smoke surrounding the object and he immediately left the place fearing for his life and informed the Kallimandiyam police station.
When the news spread in the village, people started gathering near the farm after an official team comprising revenue, police and Fire and Rescue service examined the object.
“Upon touching the object, I found it was very hard,” said Suresh, a villager. The officials of the Bomb Disposal Squad unit and forensic officials also examined it. We suspect it could be an aeronautical part that fell from a jet plane,” said A.Saravanan, Superintendent of Police, Dindigul. The SP added that temporarily they decided to bury it in a sand pit.
