NSTL Plays Vital Role in Hon\'ble Prime Minister\'s \"SCDPM 3.0\" Initiative

Visakhapatnam: The Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), a leading naval research facility under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) located in Visakhapatnam, played a pivotal role in the “Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters 3.0” (SCDPM 3.0) during the entirety of October 2023.

This initiative, conceived by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is designed to foster collective responsibility for enhancing cleanliness, and NSTL’s remarkable enthusiasm and unwavering commitment made significant contributions to its success.

The campaign featured several key events and initiatives aimed at improving cleanliness and hygiene in the area.

During the “Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters 3.0” at NSTL, several cleanliness campaigns were conducted across residential and technical areas to create a clean and hygienic environment. This included planting over 500 saplings around the office complex, improving parking organisation, and addressing dengue-prone areas.

Office space was optimised by reviewing 9,500 old records and disposing of 8,117 files, freeing up 10,000 sq. ft. Unserviceable furniture and scrap materials were also disposed of, freeing up 11,000 sq. ft., and waste materials were collected to generate revenue for the government. Fumigation and pest control measures were implemented throughout NSTL, including the residential area.

Abraham Varughese, Scientist & Director NSTL, expressed his delight over the enthusiastic support received from employees and their family members, highlighting the collaborative effort that made this campaign successful.

The NSTL provided photographic evidence of the remarkable transformation that took place during the campaign. The before-and-after images of the NSTL dumping yard, the residential area beautification, fogging for mosquito control, and the lush NSTL campus with clean roads clearly depict the positive impact of SCDPM 3.0.
