GVMC to unveil plans from green HQs to Turtle Beach
Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is gearing up for its council meeting on Wednesday, December 6, with an exhaustive 18-point agenda.
In the forefront of discussions is the proposal to construct a state-of-the-art GVMC headquarters at Mudasarlova. Marked as Proposal No. 5, it seeks approval for a green building sprawled over 4.37 acres, to be built at an estimated budget of $99.47 crore.
Designs for this building have already been presented in the previous council meeting. These are awaiting approval from the government.
The proposal stems from state government's initiative to relocate administrative office to Visakhapatnam from Vijayawada.
Another proposal is a conceptualised Tortoise Beach spread across five acres near Sagarnagar Beach. GVMC aims to collaborate with forest department to develop an Olive Ridley Turtle Conservation Centre here. This $15 crore venture will include amenities like coffee shops, toilets, shacks, furniture and an HDPE floating bridge / walkway within the blue waters, adorned by landscaping.
Ahead of the meeting, Visakhapatnam mayor Hari Venkata Kumari told Deccan Chronicle that other significant proposals include Facial Recognition Attendance System (FRAS) for sanitary workers of the public health department. There are also some proposals related to the engineering department.
Hari Venkata Kumari said further details will be unveiled after the conclusion of December 6 meeting.
