Police on Alert As Week-Long PLGA Celebrations Begin

Warangal: In view of the week-long celebrations of the People’s Liberation of Guerella Army (PLGA) of the banned Maoist organization starting from December 2 to 8 and the counting process for Assembly elections on December 3 in the state, the police officials were put on high alert in the Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts.

The officers stepped up security arrangements while keeping strict vigilance in the agency areas and the villages on Godavari banks and along the borders of Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra states.

The outlawed party conducts the PLGA celebrations in December every year and gives a call to the people to participate in the celebrations and recruit the people into the organisation.

A few days ago, the Maoists had pasted posters in the villages in the catchment areas of Godavari urging the people to boycott the Assembly elections in the state and make the PLGA celebrations a grand success.

After receiving the information from the intelligence department that the Maoists’ action team would commit sabotage or violent activity or bomb blasts targeting forces to make their presence felt, the police department alerted the people, public representatives and contractors living in the agency areas.

As part of preemptive measures, the police of Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts intensified combing operations in the forest region and are conducting the search operations by establishing checkposts using drone cameras linked to the police control room.

The police also kept a strict vigil on Maoist movements and their activities in the areas like Wazedu, Venkatapura, Eturnagaram mandals of Mulugu district and Mahadevpur, Mahamutharam, Palimela, Kataram and Mallahar mandals in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district and also in the villages along the state borders.
