Hyderabad: CPM state committee member Tammineni Veerabhadram said that the Congress government should not hand over the probe into the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme (KLIS) irregularities to the CBI, as is being demanded by the BJP, and should go ahead with its plan to seek a judicial probe.
“The Centre is known to use the ED, CBI and the I-T department to control the Opposition. In this context allowing the Central government into the probe give scope for it to arm twist parties,” he said in a statement. He sought the convening of an all-party meeting on KLIS along with irrigation experts.
He said that Rs 93,000 crore had been spent so far on the KLIS, which was estimated to cost Rs 1.27 lakh crore. The probe should check the cost, quality and wastage of resources, Verabhadram demanded.
