Kadiri Narasimha temple holds celestial wedding
ANANTAPUR: Friday witnessed the grand celestial wedding of Lord Narasimha Swamy with Goddess Lakshmi at the Khadri Narasimha Swamy Temple in Kadiri of Satya Sai district.
A huge number of devotees, including Muslims, took part in the Kalyanotsavam of the Lord and Goddess organised as part of the annual Brahmotsavams at the temple.
Historic notes at the temple state that Lord Narasimha Swamy stayed on a tree and blessed Prahlada after killing Hiranya Kasyapa. A temple had been established around this tree in Kadiri in the name of Khadri Narasimha Swamy.
Devotees from various parts of AP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana arrived at the temple for darshan.
MLA Dr Sidda Reddy and other devotees offered silk clothes to the deity on the occasion. Temple trust chairman Gopala Krishna, executive officer Pattam Guru Prasad and committee members participated in the celestial wedding.
Earlier, as part of Brahmotsavalu, temple priests made traditional offerings to Lord Narasimha Swamy.
Temple authorities have started making necessary arrangements for the Rathotsavam, the biggest chariot festival of the state, in which more than four lakh people are expected to participate from different states.
