E3 theme park closed until final nod
Wayanad: The ‘E3 Water Theme Park’ at Kunjome, Vellamunda near Mananthavadi for which a stop-memo was issued by the district administration, will stop all activity till the completion of procedures and final orders .
Since going ahead with the inauguration of the project on Sunday, against the stop memo issued by the revenue department for violation of various land utilization acts, the project by Western Ghats Green Initiative has been under the scanner of the revenue department and police.
The stop memo was issued by Mananthavadi sub collector last week for violation of Kerala Land utilization Act- 1967 and Kerala Paddy and Wetland Conservation Act-2008.
Mananthavadi sub collector VR Premkumar told Deccan Chronicle that once the stop memo was issued, the project should have been closed till further orders. “The order we have issued now is a temporary one. We have to go for a thorough perusal of the violations under various acts”, he said, adding that the project was under regular police and revenue wing surveillance.
It is up to the government to take a final decision on the project as they have no land use exemption to execute projects on the plantation and paddy land, it was pointed out.
It is to be recalled that though the project promoters widely advertised that revenue minister E Chandrasekharan and speaker P Sreeramakrishnan would attend the inaugural ceremony; both the leaders kept off the programme. Revenue officials and Thondarnad panchayat governing body members also stayed away.
The panchayat had issued a conditional licence for the park specifying that if any government departments raised objections, the licence would be cancelled, it was pointed out.
