Congress seeks ₹20,000 per acre compensation for farmers
Warangal: The state government must help the farmers who faced a huge loss due to the recent heavy rains by sanctioning compensation of ₹20,000 per acre immediately, demanded District Congress Committee (DCC) president Naini Rajendar Reddy.
Rajendar, along with other Congress leaders, submitted a representation to district collector Siktha Patnaik after meeting at her chamber in the Collectorate here in Hanamkonda on Thursday.
Later, Rajendar told the media that after facing a lot of hardships when the farmers produced various types of crops and were expecting good profits, the unseasonal heavy rains that lashed out two times in the district dashed their hopes.
They are in deep trouble and are worried about the debts they incurred for the cultivation of various crops, and the state government, instead of helping them immediately by sanctioning the compensation, is wasting time in the name of surveys, he added.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao promised that all the farmers who faced losses would get ₹10,000 per acre compensation within hours. But even after completing weekdays, there are no signs of any compensation to farmers in the state, he alleged.
He demanded that the government purchase all the food grains that were stocked at the purchasing centres and sanction ₹20,000 per acre as compensation to the farmers who faced losses immediately.
Speaking about the ‘Nirudyoga Jung Siren’, Rajendar said that in addition to the Bharat Jodo Yatra and for anti-student policies adopted in the state in protest against the question paper leakages, the Congress party was going to conduct the Nirudyoga Jung Siren at Saroornagar in Hyderabad on May 8, in which Priyanka Gandhi would participate as a chief guest.
The BRS government betrayed the unemployed youth by promising that it would sanction an unemployment dole of ₹3,000 for them. Apart from that, it also played with the lives of around 30 lakh unemployed youth with the leakage of question papers in various examinations.
The Congress party activists and leaders must participate in large numbers in the Nirudyoga Jung Siren and must make it a huge success, he appealed.
Former MP Sircilla Rajaiah, PCC member B. Srinivas Rao, Parkal Assembly segment incharge E. Venkatram Reddy, N. Srinivas, corporator P. Srimaan, K. Ravali, B. Sarala, P. Ramakrishna, G. Swapna, and K. Venkat were present along with others.
