Saifuddin laid to rest; Karnataka to aid kids education

HYDERABAD: The last rites of 42-year-old mobile technician Syed Saifuddin, who was shot dead by an RPF constable in the Jaipur-Mumbai Express on August 3, were performed at his native Hameelapur village of Bidar district after Fajr prayers on Thursday.

Saifuddin’s body was handed over to his relatives by Maharashtra Government Railway Protection (GRP) after a post-mortem on Wednesday afternoon.

MIM’s Nampally legislator Jaffar Hussain Meraj accompanied the victim's family, and coordinated with the local Maharashtra police. Meraj also spoke to the senior officials of railways who released '10 lakh compensation to Saifuddin’s wife Anjuman Shaheen’s account.

“I personally thank Asaduddin Owaisi and Jaffar Hussain Meraj for supporting our family in all aspects. It would have been difficult for us to handle as we are still in a state of shock,” said Syed Younusuddin, Saifuddin’s brother.

Over 3,000 villagers were present during the last rites. Karnataka minister Rahim Khan and local political leaders met the victim’s family and assured financial aid for the education of Saifuddin’s three daughters.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin's boss Mohammed Jabbar is still not in a position to talk. He has been shifted to a private hospital in Mumbai.
