Orange Alert For Hyderabad: Heavy Rains to Continue
HYDERABAD: Heavy downpours from early morning to late afternoon and again in the evening put traffic out of order on city roads, as motorists, wearing heavy raincoats and winter jackets, tried to manoeuvre their way to their destinations.
Key junctions of the city at KPHB, IKEA junction, Hitec corridor, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Nanakramguda, Punjagutta, Ameerpet, Begumpet, Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank, Khairatabad, Nampally, Bazarghat, MJ Market, Koti, Adarsh Nagar, Habsiguda, Mettuguda, Chilkalguda, Regimental Bazar, Chikadpally, RTC Crossroads, Kacheguda, Barkatpura, Musheerabad and Sultan Bazar experienced heavy traffic throughout the day.
The highest rainfall in the state was recorded at Kamareddy, at 104.8 mm, followed by Sangareddy, at 93 mm and Medak, at 80 mm. In the city limits, moderate rainfall was recorded in most of the parts, with 51.8 mm in Serilingampally, 39 mm in Ramachandrapuram and 38.8 mm in Kukatpally.
Adilabad, Hyderabad, Jagtial, Kamareddy, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Vikarabad and Yadadri Buvangiri received moderate rains with thundershowers on the day.
The India Meteorological Department said that a low-pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours due to the cyclonic circulation and under its influence, the state will continue to receive intense rains.
An orange alert will continue for the next 24 hours with thunderstorms and heavy winds in most parts of the state, and mercury levels going down considerably, to as low as 20º Celsius, IMD said.
