Conduct of Teppotsavam depends on climatic conditions: Dy CM
Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister and minister for endowments Kottu Satyanarayana said on Monday that the conduct of the annual Teppotsavam in River Krishna on Dasara day of Oct. 5 would depend on the climatic conditions.
He said here on Monday that the government was yet to take a decision on the Teppotsavam, wherein deities would be taken on a ride on the river in a decorated boat. This is part of an annual practice, he said, and added that based on the water flow in the river that day, the water resources department would decide on its permission for the annual fete.
In case the water level and climatic conditions are unsuitable for the Teppotsavam, a puja will be performed and devotees will be allowed to take darshan on the banks of the river.
Maintaining that they were making all efforts to ensure all devotees get hassle-free darshan of the deity at the temple, he said that on Moola Nakshatra day (Sunday), nearly 2.5 lakh devotees took darshan of the deity. On Monday, the deity was adorned as Durga.
The Dy CM said devotees are allowed to take free darshan from four queue lines. In one queue, devotees who pay `500 per head for the darshan will only be allowed in. Tickets for the darshan and other services are available online and all requisite arrangements were made for darshan of the deity on the last day for the Bhavanis who come from far off places.
As for differently abled persons, he said they would be permitted darshan from 10am to 12noon and from 4pm to 6pm. “We have arranged the bus facility from the Model guest house for devotees to visit the temple for darshan,” he said.
