Old display boards changed for YSR varsity
Vijayawada: The health sciences university has started changing its display boards and is releasing official communications in its new name -- the YSR university of health sciences.
The state government recently issued a gazette notification announcing the change of name brought into force by the YSRC government. After this, all the boards bearing the name Dr NTR University of Health Sciences are being renamed as Dr YSR University of Health Sciences. Officials said, “We are replacing the two letters ‘NT’ with ‘YS’ while the remaining letters in the display boards remain unchanged.”
The university sent communication to nearly 350 affiliated colleges including private medical colleges, colleges for dental, physiotherapy, nursing and lab technician courses etc to change the name of the university boards and incorporate the new name in their official communications.
They have also communicated about the name- change to the overseas medical universities and health institutions, in order to avoid any confusion in future.
The university staff has been asked to deal with the verification of the genuinity of certificates issued by it carefully. A certificate will be issued by the university, stating that the erstwhile Dr NTR university of health sciences was the same as the present Dr YSR university of health sciences. This is to avoid any trouble to the students seeking admission for further studies and to those seeking employment in health institutions abroad.
Vice chancellor of Dr YSR university of health sciences Dr P. Syama Prasad said, “We have started changing the name of the university as Dr YSR university of health sciences in all boards and in our official communications and asked our affiliated colleges also to do so. We would complete the work in three to four days. We have also communicated to the National Medical Commission and to health universities and institutions overseas on the name change.”
