Bengaluru Comic Con draws big crowds
BENGALURU: Scott Hampton, illustrator of Batman and Star Trek, as well as Gavin Aung Thang, creator of the popular cartoon blog Zen Pencils, were part of the 6th annual Bengaluru Comic Con, which was held at the KTPO Convention Centre in Whitefield.
The big draw was the Cosplay, the costume contest, with the winner walking away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Gaming, science-fiction, comic books and animated series were all part of the day, with each contest offering special prizes.
Stand-up comedians Sahil Shah and Naveen Richards performed live at the event, while event it also featured an exclusive preview of the upcoming One Plus Star Wars edition phone. Each Comic Con pass-holder received an exclusive Bengaluru edition of the popular comic series ‘Archie’.
The WWE fan experience was complete with the official Championship Title. The Mountain Dew Gaming Arena entertained several gaming enthusiasts from the city.
“Comic Con is dedicated to creating unique events and giving the fans and exhibitors a platform to celebrate their love for comics and pop culture”, said Jatin Varma, founder of Comic Con India.
“We would like to thank Bengaluru for such an amazing turnout and we will be back next year, bigger and better,” he said.
“Comic Con is truly a special occasion. For a person who is into pop culture and comics, there is no other event that comes close to the Comic Con experience,” said Imad Ahmed, a participant at the event.
