Woman teacher brands girl student with hot iron as pain relief treatment
Bhubaneswar: A woman teacher allegedly branded a girl student with a hot knife after the latter was stung by a hornet (wild bee).
According to reporters, this bizarre treatment by the teacher has aggravated the problem of the student. The incident was reported from Asarala Upper Primary School in Bolagarh block of Khurdha district on Saturday.
As per reports, the girl student of Class IV was writhing in pain after she was stung by a hornet in the afternoon on Saturday. On seeing this, teacher Sashmita Mohapatra immediately heated a knife on a gas stove and then pressed it on the place where the hornet had stung the student. As a result, the place had a boil, aggravating her pain.
She immediately came back home and her family admitted her to a local hospital.
However, the student’s mother Sabita Biswal alleged, “After my daughter was stung by a hornet, her teacher branded her with a hot knife. I got her treated at the hospital.”
Teacher Sashimta Mohapatra admitted and regretted her mistake. However, she dismissed allegations that she had done it out of a grudge.
Headmaster Sushant Behera said, “We are not doctors. There are remedial medicines. Without applying any balm, hot knife branding worsened the problem."
