Traffic jam on ghat road: MLA begins hunger strike
KOZHIKODE: Muslim League leader and former MLA C. Moyinkutty started an indefinite hunger strike at Adivaram on Thursday protesting the government's failure to ensure a solution for the endless traffic jams in the Wayanad Ghats.

He said during the previous dispensation, chief minister Oommen Chandy had convened a meeting of all officials as well as concerned ministers, ensuring action on a war-footing when such a situation arose but the present government was inactive.
"A one-way system was in place for a brief period to execute repair works in time, and the curves got laid with interlocking paver blocks," he said.
"There was a police outpost at Adivaram and a crane to remove damaged vehicles on the Ghat road. Now the entire arrangements have gone haywire, and there is no proper mechanism for passenger movement."
Thamarassery bishop Fr Remigiose Inchananiyil was also present. Meanwhile, Thiruvambadi MLA George M. Thomas said the repair works are fast progressing.
