Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to be inaugurated in February
Bengaluru: Union Minister for Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday stated that the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway would be inaugurated either by Prime Minister Narendra Modi or President Droupadi Murmu. The inauguration of the Expressway by Narendra Modi or by Droupadi Murmu depends on their schedule and fix-up the date for inauguration of the Expressway.
Speaking to media persons after conducting an aerial survey of Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, Nitin Gadkari the Expressway designed from Bengaluru-Mysuru will reduce the travel time to 1 hour 10 minutes (from presently about 2 hours and 30 minutes).
Gadkari asked the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to develop Satellite cities along the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway so that the Bengaluru city is decongested. “Decongestion of Bengaluru city will also bring down traffic snarls in the city,” he noted.
The Union Minister also stated that his ministry has been working on the introduction of Skybus in Bengaluru with a carrying capacity of about 200 persons and Skybus is not an easy project. “We have a presentation with Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai. We will make it as soon as possible,” he said.
Asked about whether a feasibility study has been done on the introduction of Skybus, the Minister replied that “We need to select an appropriate technology because we do have such a technology in the country. For me, Philippines have double-decker Skybus and I think it’s appropriate for the country.”
Over the introduction of Skybus to Bengaluru, Nitin Gadkari stated that this is the first time that such a project has been planned in the country.
Regarding the waterlogging of Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, Nitin Gadkari said, “Unfortunately, rainfall was a big problem this year. Sometimes, the gradient is not perfect and the gradient has to be maintained. We will rectify it.” He said to give instructions to NHAI officials for the need to have a drainage system with precast technology with good quality works.
