Speed up Mini-Medaram Jatara works: Satyavathi

WARANGAL: Tribal welfare minister Satyavathi Rathod has asked officials to speed up the works on the mini-Medaram jatara, which would be held from Feb 1 to 4 in Mulugu district.

The minister held a review meeting with ZP chairperson Jagadish, district collector Krishna Aditya and ITDA project officer Ankith at the collectorate conference hall in Mulugu.

Satyavathi noted that the number of devotees attending the Jatara was increasing every year. Around 4 to 5 lakh devotees were expected for darshan of the presiding deities of Sammakka and Saralamma this year. The Rs 2.08 crore sought by the collector from the government for the Jatara would soon be sanctioned, she said.

She said the government was determined to provide all the facilities and would ensure elaborate arrangements for the devotees attending the Jatara.

Officials must make provision for pure drinking water and uninterrupted supply of electricity as also temporary toilets with proper hygiene and sanitation in the surroundings of the temple in Medaram village.

This apart, the temple and its surroundings must be decorated with flowers during the four days of the Jatara.

The minister also asked officials to take up the repair of damaged roads and install temporary tents at various locations. These arrangements must be made at Kondai and Ilapur areas where the mini-Jatara would be held. The funds for these would be provided by the government from the endowment department.

Officials of various departments must work in coordination to make the Jatara a huge success, she said.

Later, the minister distributed the pattas for housing sites to a set of shelterless poor families as per GO-58 issued by the state government.

Additional collector YV Ganesh, ZP vice-chairman B Jyothi, Ryhtu samithi president Buchhaiah, library department chairman Govid Naik, DRO Rema Devi, DRDO Naga Padmaja, veterinary officer Appaiah, DPO Venkaiah, temple priests Jagga Rao and Kiran were present.
