Sircilla cops launch Tana Divas' for grievance redressal
Warangal: Sircilla police launched a special initiative ‘Tana Diwas’ -- a public grievance redressal related to police matters in villages -- at Vemulawada Rural police station in Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan said the initiative was launched to make police people-oriented and citizen-centric by reaching out to the people to resolve issues by receiving petitions. He said the programme will be conducted on the first Tuesday of every month at a police station in the district and the same will be informed to the villages that come under its limits.
The Vemulawada Rural police station received 53 grievances from the people on Tuesday. The SP directed the officers concerned to receive complaints, interact with the people and attend to their grievances as early as possible.
The issues related to non-police matters will be taken to the notice of the concerned officials of the various departments through the district collector and will be supervised until the issue is resolved, he said.
The SP assured that measures will be taken to avoid law and order issues during Tana Divas in villages to make it a success.
The SP warned that apart from registering criminal cases, PD Act will also be invoked against those who grab lands illegally by threatening people. For grievances related to civil cases, an awareness programme will also be conducted with the members of the Legal Cell Authority along with a retired MRO under the supervision of DSP, he added.
Mahajan said the Telangana police stood in the top position in the country in terms of maintenance of law and order in the state. By using advanced technology, the state police have successfully reduced the crime rate in the state and faster and more speedy conviction rate.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Nagendra Chary, Circles Inspectors Bhansi Lal, Venkatesh, Sub-Inspector of Police Nagaraju and Rafiq Khan and others were present at the programme.
