Jagan to lay foundation for Bandar Port on May 22
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would lay the foundation for the Machilipatnam (Bandar) port works on May 22. Stating this, former minister and YSRC MLA Perni Venkataramaiah alias Nani said on Thursday that the Chief Minister would also address a public meeting that day at Noble College grounds.
Krishna district collector P. Rajababu with MLA Perni Nani and joint collector Aparajita Singh did an on-the-spot assessment of the Bandar port development works. They also discussed the location of the Bhumi Puja programme and where the pylon should be installed.
Perni Nani said, “The Bandar port is the long-standing dream and aspiration of the people of this area.”
He said the Chief Minister would also launch the municipal drinking water supply works that would involve a fund of ₹45 crores. Various development programmes would also be inaugurated and the foundation stones unveiled.
Nani said classes would start at the Machilipatnam medical college from the 2023-24 academic year as it got approval from the Central government. The college will have 150 seats.
“The medical college is built with a fund of ₹550 crore, in 67 acres. The state government completed the construction work at a fast pace. He said Bandar was important during the British period.
Collector P. Rajababu said the Bandar port would offer many employment opportunities and the area would develop fast.
Machilipatnam port development corporation MD Y. Vidyasankar, RDO Kishore and others were present.
