Regularisation of encroached lands: Govt approves 8,963 applications
HYDERABAD: The government has approved 8,963 applications until now for regularization of encroachments on government land under GO 58.
According to Hyderabad district officials, these applications were received through Mee Seva until February this year, and the verification process was completed on July 12. Authorities stated that no ‘pattas’ were distributed for these verified applications.
The government issued GO 58 for regularisation of encroached lands under “free category” for the poor and GO 59 was meant for others under “payment category”. Under GO Ms No. 58, the government has begun accepting applications for free regularisation of unauthorised occupations for dwelling units up to 125 square yards in the case of below poverty line (BPL) families.
According to a collectorate official, GO 59 applications received by mandals are pending approval due to a lack of government orders. However, a public interest litigation against GO 59 has been pending in the Telangana High Court since 2015.
