Hyderabad: Subway booked for supplying banned e-cigarettes to minors
Hyderabad: Special operations team of Cyberabad’s Madhapur on Friday raided the Raidurgam branch of the reputed fast food chain that specialises in submarine sandwiches and seized banned e-cigarettes. Sleuths also arrested staff of the outlet and caught at least five students, all minors from two international schools located near the outlet, for smoking e-cigarettes purchased from the outlet.
Cyberabad police commissioner M. Stephen Raveendra told Deccan Chronicle they had registered a case against the outlet under the Prohibition of e-Cigarettes Act and would be serving notices on the schools.
Madhapur DCP G. Sundeep said, “We have also found that some other places are selling banned e-cigarettes to minors. We will initiate action against them as well. We are also initiating proceedings for the closure of the fast food unit,” he said.
He also warned of strict action against those indulged in selling e-cigarettes, running hookah parlours or supplying banned substances.
