Visakhapatnam: Rains continued over Andhra Pradesh with Prakasam district receiving the highest rainfall since Sunday.
According to an IMD report, there will be an increase in rainfall activity over AP during the next four days due a low pressure that is likely to be formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal on Tuesday.
Monsoon has been normal in coastal Andhra Pradesh while it was vigorous over Rayalaseema.
IMD said the cyclonic circulation over Northeast Bay of Bengal and its neighborhood now lay over northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighborhood and could extend upto 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours, the report said.
The trough now runs from the cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighborhood to Telangana across north Coastal AP between 1.5 and 3.1km above mean sea level.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated places over north coastal AP and Yanam. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over south coastal AP and Rayalaseema till Sept 7. Thereafter, the state will receive thundershowers till Sept 14, the report added.
