Vijayawada: Disha police rescued two women who attempted to die by suicide in two separate cases in Krishna and Nellore districts on Friday.
In Krishna district, a woman had an argument with her brother-in-law and consumed a disinfectant liquid in a fit of rage. She fell unconscious, but her neighbour, Revathi, noticed her and alerted the Disha police. The police arrived promptly and shifted the woman to the hospital, where she was treated by doctors. Later, the Disha police counselled her brother-in-law and sent both of them home.
In Nellore district, a woman and her husband, Yedukondalu, quarreled over a petty issue, and he assaulted her. She consumed poison and fell unconscious. A passerby, Eeswari, noticed her and alerted the Disha police. The police arrived promptly and shifted the woman to the government hospital for treatment. Based on a complaint from the victim, the police registered a case against her husband under Section 498-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
