KCR, minister and MP face checks as forces intensify poll vigil
Hyderabad: Central security forces intensified vehicle checks in the city, given that the model code of conduct is in place for the upcoming elections, sparing not even vehicles of VVIPs, including the Chief Minister.
On Sunday, election officials and the police detained Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s convoy for a check. They also thoroughly inspected a bus in which Rao was heading to Bhadradri district to speak at a public meeting.
Sources said that the Chief Minister and his staff cooperated with the election officials, police and law enforcement agencies for the checks, following which they were allowed to proceed.
The police also detained home minister Mahmood Ali's convoy at the Kallakal check post on the national highway at Manoharabad of Medak district on Sunday.
Sources said the check went smoothly, after which he was allowed to proceed to Kamareddy for an election campaign.
Similarly, the police detained Hyderabad MP and MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's vehicle at Asifnagar for a check, for which Central and state forces coordinated.
